  • Greetings!!

It's been a while since we threw in some strong educational material, but with the first day of Fall this weekend, we couldn't go without talking about the Autumnal Equinox and what it is. If you already know, that's great, if not here it goes. Thanks to infoplease.com: In the language of science, an equinox is either of two points on the celestial sphere where the ecliptic and the celestial equator intersect. For the rest of us, it's one of two times a year when the sun crosses the equator, and the day and night are of approximately equal length.

At the autumnal equinox (Sept. 23, 2007, 5:51 A.M. EDT), the sun appears to cross the celestial equator, from north to south; this marks the beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. we

This also signals changes in our exercise habits. For example as it gets darker out, people start heading indoors. But have no fear, we have cures for this. Join us at any of our weekly workouts. This way you can exercise safely with others. Not sure what to wear, then we can certainly help there as well with our full array of cool weather gear and safety gear for darkness. Lastly, its time to try a different terrain. Check out this weekends Autumn Classic Duathlon and Trail Race. This happens to be one of the best times of year to embrace the outdoors. Read on for more ways to accomodate your exercise habits throught the Fall.

    Strongly Seeking Volunteers

Can you help? We are in strong need of volunteers for this Sunday's (September 30th) Rochester Autumn Classic Duathlon and Trail Race in Mendon Ponds Park. If you have only been a participant this year and haven't helped, here's your chance to give back to the running and multisport community.

Your time commitment would be for about 2-3 hours. We are in need of road marshals primarily, but also, we could use help at one of the water stops and in transition. If you can help please contact us at ellen@fleetfeetrochester.com.

We really could use help. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
